I was just certified for OW in October of 04' and would like to find some other divers in south-eastern Michigan that would be willing to help out a new diver.

Also, does anyone have a MARES V 16 Proton XL? I'm thinking about buying one and would like to get some real world reviews on it. :scubadive

Caboose,

You may want to check-out the Meet & Greet III thread stickied to the top of our section. While the Eastern-Michigan group will chime in the Meet & Greet will give you your best opportunity to meet new buddies. The event takes place over the tax weekend in April, check it out you will not be disappointed.

Welcome aboard the Great Lakes Wrecking Crew.

Welcome to our little section of the board! Come on down to the meet and greet and see what this crew is all about it will be a good time I promise :)

Can't help you on the reg question I'm diving a Scubapro MK10 and getting ready to switch to something made by Dive Rite (I blame this on DiverBrian) that I liked better after I took it down to salute the flag.

Now how is that my fault?! My Dive-Rite regs are on my STAGE bottles (two of them now). I use another type on my actual tanks. Now, our good friend Tim swears by them, but I still haven't seen a reason to switch yet.

And when did you go down to salute the flag. By the way, I will take a group to salute the flag and visit Spidey at the meet and greet if someone has the gear and wants to go down there. HINT: you will need redundant first stages of some nature for that visit.

Your the one who said "Hey my dive buddies will be there that weekend you should stop and say hi." That started this whole mess and since I've used his regs (for the flag trip) and liked them as well as the Apeks I got my husband I'm going for the less expensive Dive Rite version. I was originally going to get an Apeks but your buddy convinced me the Dive Rite was basically the same thing but without the Cadillac price tag. Your buddy=your fault ;)

We did the flag trip because the deep end of Gilboa spooks me something aweful so I asked him for a tour. He rigged a doubles set for me and we went down with 28% and I was still narced enough that I didn't know what spidey was until Tim told me after the dive. I was so busy looking at the white wisps on top of the sulphur layer that he had to come back from the dike to get me, I knew I should follow him but I couldn't leave the wisps. He literally had to take my hand and pull me over the dike. I hate to think how bad I would have been narced had we been diving air.

Actually, my backgas regs are the Aqualung equivalent to the regs that you bought for your husband. Same thing, different brand names.

If you do the END calcs, you will find that EAN28 really doesn't take much off that depth. I was suprised when we figured that out in our Normoxic class with Dr. Walker. That is why our dives for that class will be on 28/20.

At the meet and greet, I will tell you how Tim and I put the flag down there. Let's just say that I don't remember much of it, LOL. He seems to like to get people narced!

*sigh* sounds like I won't be going to the deep-end. Maby I'll be able to salute from the shallow side. :usa:

Hey,

It gives you something to work towards. To be honest, I tend to use the deep side more when doing deep/tech training or when the students have stirred up the shallow end anyways. There really isn't much over on the deep side and Mike likes it that way. It's nice to have the option to go over there, but the interesting stuff is on the shallow side.

Hey Caboose, you can dive on the shallow side with me I still don't like the deep end.
