Alright. My father and i are getting ready to go dive in Cozumel on may 21st. I have been very lucky to say that my dad and i have both found something we can relate and enjoy as a father-son hobby/way-of-life haha. I have the Following Equipment and wanted to know what you guys thought. thanks.

Oceanic Excursion BC
O'neill 3000X wetsuit
Scubapro Crystal VU Mask
Oceanic Response Snorkel
Uwatec Aladin Air Z Dive Computer
Henderson Neosport 3mm Booties
Scubapro Razor Fins

Future Equipment thinking about purchasing:
Scubapro MK25/X650 Reg
Atomic Aquatics SS1 Octo

Any suggestions would be appreciated! thank you

If you are going to Coz, go for some cheap stuff like a safety whistle and mirror in case the boat loses you on a drift dive

Sounds like a solid foundation of equipment, your LDS must be proud.

Agreed with Charlie about the safety gear. Probably a good idea to get a safety sausage or something to make yourself more visible if you surface away from the boat, especially since it'll be a drift dive.

I will have to say, I really do enjoy my LDS. They have helped me every step of the way. Everyone has a very friendly personality, everyone is very imformative, and there is no pressure to buy anything. All the equipment I purchased was my own personal choice, and it was not the only thing the LDS employees recommended first. I appreciate their help :-)

yep def consider "investment" in a loud whistle (like storm -whistles) and safety sausage. mirror might be helpful too (at least on sunny days).

Other than the aforementioned safety gear, just add water. :D

Looks good overall. If it were me, I'd think twice about the X650 and get the S600 instead. Why spend more? What do you get for the extra, and does it matter?

Atomic SS1 is probably the best of it's kind, but I prefer a traditional Octo, especially after doing extensive drills in my Rescue class. Have you ever used one of those? They're a huge PITA should you ever need to. Hopefully you'll never need to, of course, outside of training, but if you do end up needing to, good luck. There's enough crap to worry about in an emergency other than trying to breathe and vent one of those during an ascent with an injured or OOA diver. Octo is way cheaper, too. :)
