Over the past two years I've been working to create episodes of a proposed new cable TV show on the marine life of southern California kelp forests. "Munching and Mating in the Macrocystis" (Giant Kelp) now includes 22 episodes targeted for weekly 30-min commercial time slots.
Once I finish four more episodes (by early summer), I'll have enough for the show to run half a year. At that point I will begin to aggressively market it, first to southern California regional cable TV providers but eventually to other market areas.
The show's initial episodes focus on introducing the critters of the kelp forests based on their taxonomic groupings (invertebrate classes, fish families). Once each group is presented, the second portion will focus on a basic introduction to marine ecology using the kelp forests as the example. The third set of episodes will focus on specific environmental issues affecting both kelp forests and the ocean in general. The final set will include videos on the critters and ecology from selected regions of the world (coral reefs, deep ecology, etc.).
I'm looking for folks with cable TV connections (not as viewers, but folks who might be able to provide the intros necessary to get this show in front of the decision makers).
