New Aussie (almost diver!) here

Hi all,

Just found this forum and I must say its got heaps of great info for begginers on here!! I am doing my PADI OWC in about 2 weeks time after my partner finally convinced me to do it before we go on holidays to Thailand... The only thing is, its winter here and the temperature in the bay is freezing (11 - 15 degrees celsius)! I HATE the cold so its all I can think about at the moment. Is it horrible diving in that temperature water?!

Yes, it's horrible.

But on the positive side - you will LOVE Thailand - you will really appreciate it after Victorian water temps

tons of Aussies on here; you'll feel right at home

as to 11-15 degree water (that's 52 to 60 farenheit) all i can say is ... ow... make
sure you are wearing at least a 7 mil and a hood. i would even encourage you to
try a dry suit, if possible, so you can stay warm.

i am a cold-water wus. here in florida, i dive in water around 21 celcius, and use
a dry suit.

at any rate, i'm sure others who have more experience diving in colder waters will
chime in shortly

11-15 degrees? Sounds like the chilly, orca infested waters of Puget Sound, WA USA.

If your suit fits well you'll probably enjoy diving in your local waters. I do. Hey, love the tropical waters too but they're far away from me and, hence, a rare luxury!
