What good is a lifetime warranty when the glass breaks? The warranty only covers the frame?

Well, I can't say I have ever had the glass break in a mask...but if it did I would contact them anyway and see what they could do. Some companies are very good about backing their products like that.

If they still didn't agree to replace them, I would break the frame and say it caused the glass to break

Katz:
Of course. Atomic mask is a gimmik. Both X-vision and Big Eyes/Matix has better down view and cost significantly less.

I wouldn't say that unless:

1. You have tried the mask yourself

2. You decide that you speak for every SCUBA diver in the world

The reason there are so many masks out there is because each fits a little differently, each looks different, each has a different viewing angle, each has a different volume, each has a different level of comfort, and each has a different level of quality.

While it may not make much of a difference at all, they are using higher quality lenses than many of the other manufacturers. Plus the quality of construction is top notch.

Now, I don't think you can call them a gimmick just like I won't go and call a pair of fins "gimmicky" or "bad". Because, when it comes down to it in the end, its all personal preference in this sport. Whether you like something or not does not affect anyone else. If a person likes a mask because it fits well...good! He will likely use that mask for a very long time and make the cost difference almost negligible.

If you don't choose to check out the mask, or use it, that is fine. But I wouldn't discourage other forum readers to at least go to their LDS and try it out for themselves and decide if its worth the money. :14:

Yes, I tried it myself. It fits well and it's good, but for the money X-vision or Matrix/Big Eyes is much better and also fit well. In a shop I tried to see the difference in a view field, but only felt it was wider than Mares/Cressi, but not deeper. I also tried to feel the difference in a glass. There was no significant difference. So no major advantages, except of inflated price. So it's A gimmick.

Actually, I tried it at the LDS, as well. The silicone skirt was softer, therefore better adhering, then any of the others I've tried (including Cressi, Ocean Master, Tusa, Oceanic, and XS Scuba). I haven't dove with it (yet), however, the glass 'appeared' to be remarkably clear, to the point of completely vanishing (again, the test will be the dive).

However, based on the above, and the fact that it's a low-volume mask, extremely comfortable (except for the strap--I prefer Ocean Master's Q-strap), and remarkably adherent (which is *very* important when you have a beard/moustache) I can't see where the "gimmick" is... If I was looking for bargain scuba gear, I'd buy my mask/snorkel/fins at Walmart, and my regs/computers at a swap meet.

Point is, it's all a matter of personal opinion... if it works for you, and you're more comfortable with it, there's no such thing as "gimmick"...

It's your money. I can buy both Mares and Cressi for less than ONE Atomic. And those are world class masks with DEEPER VIEW.

I was bored so I updated the pictures of the masks on Atomicaquatics.com and made them look a little better than they do on their site. Plus I made a version for each color with the black skirt.

Thought about getting one--nice mask but I can order 3 Cressi-Sub Big eyes from Leisure Pro for that kind of $$$.:D

I would be wooried about a mask that is only $30???? All I can say is if you don't like don't buy it!!! to say one is better for everyone is an opinion and they are like noses, everyone has one some are just alittle bigger then others and some people like to push theres in everywhere possible.

 Yes your right everything less expensive is crap! Give me a break, you obviously have never shopped on Leisure Pro. They sell everything at a discount as the Cressi-Sub Big eyes is the most popular selling mask out and sells in any LDS for $50-$60.

Couldn't agree more. I have used quite a few masks in my life, from $20 walmart specials to $100. All have generally worked fine. In fact, some of the more expensive ones leaked more than the cheaper ones. This is why it is all about fit. Don't get a mask that doesn't or you will hate it forever.

I pm'ed some of you but for anyone else reading that owns this mask. I am curious what the "real" versions look like other than the one I bought. If any of you can take pictures of the ones you own that would be cool. :)
