I have owned and dove Scubapro MK25 S600s and Sherwood Maximus and a Blizzard . All were good regs but I had a freeflow with the SP at 55' in 38 degree water once and found through more research that the Mk 25 is prone to freeflows below 40 degrees.

I then went to Aqualung (US Divers) and haven't looked back. I dive with the Titan LX Supreme and the Legend LX Supreme and love them both. I've had both to depths below 100' and temps below 40 degrees with no issues. The Legend breathes really easily and the Titan is not far behind. I've dove the same regs in tropical 82 degree waters and found the same great performance. AL is also a common brand and usually service can be found almost anywhere.

I do a lot of diving in colder waters so a sealed first stage is important to me. The SP
MK25 was not sealed.
