In another subforum, it was suggested I get the parts from VintageDoubleHose, and rebuild these regs myself, but I figured I'd better look into what was involved. Are there any video tutorials around ?
Any funky tools required?
Any info at all would be highly appreciated.....

Loved this video tutorial. Hadn't seen it before. Would have saved my fumbling about. Those cautions and tips are helpful.

Thanks for posting the link for those who missed it earlier.

Cheers,
Cameron

Thanks for the video link, Herman, that was just what I was looking for! I just watched pt.1 and some of the one on the g250.
The vids are defintely instructive and interesting, the downside is this job is kinda looking like it may send my non-mechanically-inclined self into tool-throwing,profanity-laced fits of rage, LOL!! And, the tools I'd need to pick up would negate a chunk of the savings over having my LDS do it.
I might have to bite the bullet and leave it the the pros (and their factory tools!) :D
(but I'll keep checking them out, sometimes that works).

Your new MK10 is probably older than the young tech at your LDS, and they are unlikely to have any spare parts needed in inventory.

Why don't you ask the good guys at Vintage Double Hose, who know what is needed, to service your MK10?

In general I'd recommend taking gear to the LDS - but due to my own issues finding a LDS that I trust (this is life sustaining gear), you'll have to decide if you trust your work over trusting theirs. My current LDS I got to know the owners and the tech guy and I trust them. When I first moved I took my gear in to the closest dive shop and would have sucked serious water if I had just jumped in after getting my gear back (also, when taking my gear in a year later for service was told the o-rings were possibly 10 years old - which means the first shop didn't do squat to service my gear!). I now service all my gear myself so if it's not right at least I know what was done to it. But to do it yourself, understand you need at least the tools to test it properly and again it is life sustaining gear so be careful! I did also get some duplicate gear off ebay and took that apart first :). I also built some of my own tools (lucky to have a pole barn workshop and a dad that was a tool and die maker). It's great to do it yourself, but also to get to know your LDS tech guy(s). Working gear is the best - well it's really the ONLY thing.

Here is a video Bryan at VDH made on the MK-5 be sure to check all the parts (1-4) and he has one on the 250 .
The MK-10 is basically the same, just the parts shapes are a little different.

Loved the intro music: "The Well Equipped Diver" by The Barefoot Man !

I would not count on that. You don't need all of the tools in the videos, in fact an IP gauge and a few other tools are all you need to service your MK10/G250 Contact @herman and he can sort out your tool needs.

I'm guessing a lot of the info would apply to many regulators. I have people coming so I'll look at it later :)

Herman, do you happen to know if a kit is available for a Sherwood SRB 3100 first stage?
