1I find their employees and instructors to be of the highest caliber and would trust them for any service or class. I'm still going to support them and refer my friends to them, but after reading your experiences I will be more weary from now on.
I had reservations about posting this because it wasn't a direct experience on my part, but my ex-chick from a year ago got her OW cert from PacWild San Pedro and she said that if it weren't for the DM candidate that helped out in the class, half of the class wouldn't have passed including her because the instructor wasn't too particularly helpful with struggling student.

The few times I've been to PacWild to pick up knick knacks, they were friendly and helpful.

I love Sea D Sea as a shop but there's one instructor there that I don't think is all that hot either.

So, you win some and you lose some.

I only have experience with the Pacific Wilderness Orange store (which has no pool). I have a tempermental Oceanic Delata 2 which has had leakage problems before, and they've serviced it well and I've not had problems since taking it there. I thought the price and turnaround time were good and the staff friendly.

Also it's one of the better stores around with good selection and prices.

The shop I avoid is Open Water Habitat in Santa Ana.
