Me and my girlfriend were talking about getting the Nitrox course...Our goal is to have more bottom time when we travel. Mostly the operators are using 80pi3 cylinders. The question is: Do a 80pi3 cylinders would be big enough to the nitrox 32 table at around 90' (35min, air is 25)?? Of course it all depend of your volume consumption...but lets say that with regular air we always go to the max time with an air table. there's an exemple of one of our dive:

Max depth: 90'
Bottom time : 28 min.
air volume start : 3400psi
air volume end: 1100psi

For this dive our consumption is 82psi/min.

What are your ideas about this? is it worth it to take that course if we only dive with 80pi3 ???

If you're always going to the max time with regular air, using Nitrox will allow you to have more bottom time.

I'm not sure what 80pi3 is... maybe 80cf or 80ft3? (cubic feet)? Is that a French thing? :)

Yes it is, pied=feet so I guess pi3=ft3.

You're absolutely right about that but if nitrox for exemple his giving me only 5min more... is it worth paying a $200 course for that?

Well, check the tables for your times for a second dive to that depth after a surface interval.

What kind of diving do you actually *do* and will the extra bottom time from Nitrox help?

I'm not doing any tech dives and only boat dives.

Usually if you would dive at 90', with how many PSI would you go up since your computer tells you that you still have time ?

Well, how many PSI would it take for you and your buddy to acsend (safley)? How about if one of you had a failure?

That's exactly what I'm asking....

How many PSI ?

Ok, I can explain it but chances are its been done before and much better than I could ever do.

Do a search for "Rock Bottom".
