"Following removal of the action to the United States District Court, the Honorable John F. Walter, United States District Judge, granted Rodale Inc.'s motion for summary judgment as to Bob Evans Design's first four causes of action and dismissed all of the major claims made against Rodale Inc. leaving only a minor breach of contract claim."

They finally paid 9 grand to get rid of the suit. Hardly a big loss for Rodale's, eh? Especially considering Bob was seeking $4.8 million.

i dont know but to me the rodales article stinks of rotten fish. of course there going to spin the article in there favor since its on there site.

any ways rodales is nothing but a trade rag, and isnt worth the paper its written on(dont get me started on there "unbiased" fin testing in cozumel this year, because its intresting to say the least). i find the info on a good review in places other then rodales

Anyway, the problem is that RSD caters very much to those large scuba manufactures, and agencies, to their end of the industrie. And they like the writing as it is, as they like their customer as they are (un- or misinformed).

Problem is, it's hard to find a better option. DIVER from the UK is a very good magazine, they test equipment (and you'd be suprised how good FF did in their tests). It's available on news stand every once in a while, but pretty expensive. The Germans have two very good diving mags that test (again, FF did well repeatedly over the years), but obviously in German and by subscription only in the US. By the way, my fave UW mag is Advanced Diver Magazine, but they don't do comparison tests.

I wonder if Bob Evans has a point asking for millions. Look at the splits, how the came crashing into the market. I wonder how many people bought a pair, or at least tried them, because of Rodale's glowing reviews ... . After all, they were close to $200 bucks, pretty expensive for a goofy looking fin that nobody knew. These days, half the people on the boat have them. So if FF would have gotten the rave reviews, I'm afraid the company would have done much better. Afraid, because it's a scary thought that that rag is that powerfull. :upset:

you have any links for these sites.

well as for split fins were started by bob evans wit the creation of the foil force, but then was stolen by a friend of bobs who is now the owner of either apollo or atomic who made them popular

Well all I want is a fin that works well for me, that feels natural, doesn't hurt, and doesn't cause extra work (and extra drain on my air supply).

So far, for me, the force fin hasn't done that. Maybe I have the wrong size. My shoe size is 7 1/2 (US); I have size Large FF; regular footed booties didn't work with them at all; the thinner neoprene booties are an improvement, but still cause a lot of stress on the top of my foot with every downstroke.

I live in the inland empire of WA, and the dive shops are very scarce; so the option of trying out several fins is not very good.

Well, thanks for all the feedback. I don't want to spend $189 for split fins if they're going to just sit in my closet, but I need to do something. Maybe I'll just go back to my $10.99 Walmart fins.

I asume you're referring to the foreign dive mags?

Diver/UK has a lot of their tests posted:
http://www.divernet.com/index.shtml

tauchen/Germany has just four or five (including
the one on the fairly new Mobby's Topshell that
was shown at DEMA last year, which I liked, got
a very good review and those knuckleheads at
Parkway refuse to sell in the US :upset: )
http://www.tauchen.de/

unterwasser/Germany doesn't post their reviews,
at least afaik.
http://www.unterwasser.de/

As a nice gesture those two German mags bring out
'test specials' every (other) year, which are reprints
of the tests. :)
