Billy Joel: Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)
River Of Dreams Released: 1993

Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me

Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me

Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be

Ber - what's wrong with crying during the father-daughter dance??? I personally love "Butterfly Kisses" (both the song and the 'kiss') and although my daughter is only 4 - I cry everytime I hear it. My mom and I danced to 'You are my child' by Barry Manillow at my wedding. That's a tear jerker too. I also heartily support Billy Joel's Lullabye (as suggested by Daffy above). OK, OK - I cry with that one too. (Can you tell I'm a big softy??)

"Time of my life" from Dirty Dancing?

Just a thought, I love that song (well, I love the film).

There is a song called "Butterfly Kisses"...not sure who the artist is (this is a very mellow song).....it's on a tape we play for my daughter sometimes at bedtime

the lyrics talk about how the father gives "butterfly kisses" to his daughter each night when she is young.....and ends on her wedding day as she communicates to her father that she'll always be his little girl even though she's getting married.....

Always makes me want to cry as I hear the words.....I know that day will come MUCH too soon for me ;-)

Subsequent edit:
DOH...I just went back and looked at Ber's oriiginal post.....sorry!

I like this one too.

Kingston Trio, turn around

But as a dad I really like butterfly kisses. You and he are going to cry anyway! Let us know what you decide on ok?
Hope you have a great wedding day and we all want to see pics of the blushing bride.

Nope not me. It will never happen. My baby girl will never grow up and get married. Not to me. She's mine ya hear, mine never gonna happen.

Maybe its a good thing I enjoy hunting.:jester:

How about Ray Charles' "What a wonderful world"?
Thats a great tune but I believe it is Louis Armstrong that sings it.

Yes, that would be the late great Satchmo.

I'll throw in another vote for Butterfly Kisses. You can probably get thru it without crying. Your dad might not.
