need help finding easy dives with small groups at grand cayman

The day we went it was bright and sunny but still we encountered seas about half the intensity of the attached picture.

Of course the attached picture was Smith's Cove the day Michelle made landfall.

I dive it weekly and found that the only damage done by the hurricane was to the soft growth in 30ft or less of water. That was the same for the entire west side of the island. Very little was harmed that was found deeper. As far as wave action you must have caught it on a bad trip because it is only affected by southwesterly winds which are the rarest breed here. Definately give it another chance next time your down.

Typically always bright and sunny with no relation to the wind speed or direction. Smith's Cove is on "protected side of the island" if the winds are as usual. However if the winds to come from the west, sw as with Michelle and other much milder offshore storms we can get storm surge without ever even knowing the storm is there.

We didn't even know that Michelle was effecting us until we walked out to the beach and saw the twelve footers.
