So getting back into diving and I went with a completely different setup than my previous one and don't know where to begin since it's such a drastic change. Here's my stats

Me: 168lbs
8/7mm wetsuit, boot,gloves.
Steel 100 tank
Dive Rite Trans-Plate Harness
Dive Rite SS Plate
Dive Rite STA
Dive Rite LX25 Light
Scubapro Xtec 30lbs wing

Wanted to see what you guys think of where I should start as far as weight

8/7mm wetsuit, boot,gloves-probably +16
Steel 100 tank -2
Dive Rite Trans-Plate Harness neutral assuming you have padding on there
Dive Rite SS Plate -5
Dive Rite STA -2-3 depending on if you have SS cam bands or not

wing is irrelevant, so is the canister

probably -10 on the rig, +6 on the suit, so I'd start with 6lbs on a belt and go from there but you should do a real weight check to verify

Thanks for you help man, I've actually referenced a lot of your posts from years ago when putting my setup together

Um, salt or freshwater?

I figured SD in @MichaelRyanSd 's name was San Diego, so I'm assuming salt. Could be wrong, but it seemed safe. Starting weights like above are usually splitting hairs anyway, so you're going to have to go up or down 2-4 pounds. Can't get any closer than that without an actual weight check.

Around here, SD is South Dakota. You know, with Lake Pactola and everything.

If that’s a new 8/7 it will be very buoyant. You might want to try the new rig in a pool first, both to get comfortable with it and check buoyancy. Add about 10 lbs to what u need in fresh water pool for salt water.

Yeah Saltwater, I'm going with 8lbs to be safe, I'll bring extra weights just in case obviously
