Hello to everyone, I'm new here so I'd like to thank everyone in advance for any help.
I'm trying to help my instructor/LDS with his compressor. It's currently making a rattling/rod bearing type of sound which best I can tell is coming from inside the block.

I was told it was running and then started to sound like it was laboring, when he went to check it there was oil everywhere on the floor around it.

It appears to have come from the crankcase breather. We filled with oil yesterday and ran it for 10 seconds or so no oil came out anywhere.

It doesn't seem to be making any air pressure.

The top of the 2nd stage near the outlet seems to have gotten hotter than it should. Paint looks scorched (I'll try to attach a picture)

This is the first time working on a scuba compressor. I'm an automotive tech so I have some mechanical experience.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again
