Need advise for Komodo in mid-April

Currents are great! Best to learn to dive in them if you want great dives...

Thank you all for the feedback. I think we're just going have to deal with the currents to be able to dive this incredible place! We have a week to spare and so were thinking of spending a couple of days relaxing in Bali but based on the feedback, we may just do more days on the lob
Siren Fleet - unfortunately, with all our other travel plans for the year, April is the only time we have for a dive trip But we plan to do RA at some point too so will def keep you in mind for that as have read great reviews about your boat!

Sorry everyone, one more question. Has been on/heard about the SV Mona Lisa or Komodo Adventurer and have a view? They stay in Komodo in April and have availability.

Diving in currents is great! and I've heard Komodo is a ton of fun! But if you see one of these things underwater, Get The F Out!

Buoyancy is really the key - if you have good buoyancy and are confident with it you can get closer to the reef (without bashing into it) and avoid the worst of the current.

Based on my limited experience - Komodo is best from the month of May onwards to early fall. Early season, it might be difficult to get to the wonderful southern Komodo dive sites. Strong currents are ever-present, but these currents allow us to see pelagics (grey reef sharks, dog tooth tuna, giant trevally, and beautiful mantas). As an earlier poster mentioned, buoyancy control is key as well as going with the flow - do not flight it. Lastly, find a cruise director with experience with the currents and tides. Many dives are not that interesting at slack high tide, but can be dangerous at a rapidly falling tide. Perhaps starting the trip in Bali is better, in particular if you dive Nusa Lembongan.

Have you seen this post in the liveaboards marketplace forum? We can't comment on the quality of the boat and operation but the tour company (Aqua Marine Bali) are well known and professional. This might be what you're looking for??
