I'm ready to move through rescue diver, dive master and instructor training and want to hook up with a good shop/instructor. I need recommendations! I'd like to stick with PADI.

WHere do you want to go? I went to prodive in Fort Lauderdale and liked it. I have heard great things about IDC Thailand. PADI HQ is on the west coast, Im sure there are good IDC's over there.

Northeast Scuba in Chelmsford has the instructors as well as the facility to take you were you want to go. Good luck.

I'm in the Boston area but once I earn instructor status, I'd like to work in the Caribbean.

I will recomend you to try the Boston Harbor Diving Co.

Captain James Sullivan is great.

This is his website.

Thanks for the recommendation. It looks like they don't offer instructor level training. I think I'd rather find an instructor/shop that can work with me all the way through the process. Thoughts?

Get on PADI.com.......and do a Facility search......look for IDC's in the area. They have the shops flagged IDC!

I'm not sure on how far you'd travel.....but Ocean State Scuba in Rhode Island (1 hour drive from Boston) has an IDC course every year....I've worked with them personally and believe you'd get great New England water instructor training. I'd do the PADI search. Good Luck!

But Hey.......if your going to take off and work out in the Carribean......I'd try a place like PRO dive since they offer job placement too!

You are right the BHDC do not have the instructor level training, the only person i know in the Boston area who does that is Genevieve Stewart from PG dive, she is great too, i like her a lot, i did my dry suit cert. with her, give them a call, they maybe able to help you.
