Learning to dive here will make it a cake walk in the Caribbean of course. I have had a good experience with NE Scuba. Specifically Tom Huff (no frills guy but is the real deal for advanced diving) and Paul Indeligatto (not sure of the spelling).

That's 'Paul Indelicato' Matt. And you are correct that they offer great training at all levels - Including IDC. I did my divemaster certification with them and can tell you that they do not cut any corners.

You are right the BHDC do not have the instructor level training, the only person i know in the Boston area who does that is Genevieve Stewart from PG dive, she is great too, i like her a lot, i did my dry suit cert. with her, give them a call, they maybe able to help you.
