NC Divers Dive and Cookout - Oct 14 - Rolesville Quarry

We are having another dive/cook-out at Rolesville Quarry on Saturday, October 14! This is sort of a birthday get together for our gang considering it has been two years this October since we started our little dive group. Anyone who has not been diving with our group you are welcome to come out, meet everyone, dive and eat (as long as you contribute ).

There are a few folks camping out Friday night and for the ones arriving Saturday the quarry opens at 8am. We probably won't eat until around noon.

We will be having an underwater poker run and giving our prizes by random drawings. I'm not posting what the prizes are but we've had some awesome donations! You'll just have to come out and see.

NCDivers Anniversary Picnic Poker Run
Rules and Regulations

The purpose of this event is to visit various locations in the rock quarry in the proper sequence. You will need to follow a set of instructions to determine where to go. You will not know the sequence at the start of the event; you will figure out the sequence as you go. This is not a timed event. You will not win a prize for doing this more quickly than anyone else. We will keep track of your time for fun and to make sure all teams have returned. There is no advantage to getting in a hurry. Your only time limit is the amount of air in your tank. Your goal is to complete the course in the correct sequence. It is possible to make a wrong turn if you don't follow the instructions correctly.

All locations that you will visit will be above the thermocline. You will not need to venture into deep water. You are not required to remain underwater for the entire dive. If you need to surface to get your bearings, or want to surface swim to a location, that is fine. You may only start your dive with the permission of the hunt coordinator; who will write your names and start time on a list. Teams will all start at the same location, but at staggered start times.

Each team will be provided with a copy of the quarry map and a slate for recording location numbers.

All divers who complete the course correctly will be entered in a drawing for the Winner's prize. All other prizes will be given out by random draw of all persons at the picnic, not just those who completed the course correctly.
