Sandra,

Welcome to the boards and diving.

I hope you have been watching the Texas section and can join us on some of our dives comming up. If it will ever stop raining on the weekends we will make a trip out to Terrell. I do rememeber the first tirp there, it was raining so hard the vis above the water was almost as bad as the vis below water.

Houston: The only city I have been in that the primary language on the street signs matched the predominant ethnicity of the area.

Tom

Actually, Tom, I thought the vis BELOW was better!! :D

Anyhow Tater, there are several active lake divers here in the Dallas area. So let us know when you land here and we'll hook up with ya.

I did my open water dives in Terrell. ONLY after I finally saw the TINY TINY TINY dive flag turn indicator after driving around for what seemed hours out in the middle of NO WHERE!!! My dive instructors were flagging me into the parking lot like I was a 747!! It was awful. Can you tell with out a photo I am blonde??? I have no sense of direction what so ever. Thank goodness for cell phones......and out there it was questionable on getting the call to go through. The water was 48 degrees and it was raining. I had on a 6.5 wet suit on and still froze. I was shivering so bad you could hear me underwater. I would love to try it again........I think. :) Let me know when you guys think you might go.

Thank you.

Sandra

You see; in Dallas, the subdivisions are all made out of farmland where they used to grow cotton and soybeans. That's why there aren't any trees. If there were trees, the contractors mowed them all down to make building easier.

If you want beautiful trees and hills that look like NC, then you need to come on out here in the Piney Woods about 150 miles east of Dallas. You'd feel right at home.

Welcome to the boards from Rochester NY.

It sounds like some really nice trips your doing this year.
Trip reports are appreciated!

Be prepared!
It seems like there would be a big difference between those places and the "can't see your hand in front of your face" stuff the Texans are used to! :D

Hi ya Tater,

Welcome to Texas...there are plenty of avid divers in the DFW area. You mentioned Bonaire... where in Bonaire did you stay?

I went to Bonaire a few years back, shortly after a hurricane had hit the island. Sad to say, but Pink Beach no longer had pink sand...all washed out to sea. The place was still incredible, even with all the rebuilding going on. What sites did you dive at? I'm always interested...hope to go back soon.

And again, welcome to Texas!
