We are going to Roatan 8/27-9/3, renting a house in West End. Plan to do 2-3 dives per day and need to rent most of our gear. Native Sons is nearby and seems to be well-establshed -- but are they recommended? Anyone have experience diving on Roatan outside of the resorts? TIA!

Been there several times and dove with Native Sons. Alvin, the owner is a friendly, well informed guy. I have no complaints at all with the operation and would recommend them. There are a lot of dive shops in West End. You can stroll down the street and talk to all of them to see who you feel most comfortable with. I have dove with a couple other operations and did not have any problems with any of them. The standard schedule for diving at most of the shops is to do do 2 one tank dives in the morning with one dive in the afternoon. They always come back to shore for the surface intervals and to load or unload divers for the next boat. If that does not fit your schedule, there is at least one shop who will do a 2 Tank morning dive. This may cut down on the time it takes to complete 2 morning dives if that is of any importance to you. ........Native Sons is a good operation. Enjoy!

I haven't heard anything bad about Native Sons, but my favorite is Coconut Tree. They to a 2 tank dive in the am, and 2 one tank dives pm. I have had a great time with them.
