My wife and I are staying at the Kimpton Resort/Hotel, in Roatan. The dive shop associated with the hotel is West Bay Divers. Does anyone have experience with them, or should I seek out another dive operator?

Thanks in advanced,
Peter

I dove with them in February when their dive shop was 5 minutes away from that hotel and my experience was good. The shop they put in the hotel is NEW (and they added more boats too) so I assume they also have new staff that I don't know.

@renalea also dove with them in September and seems to have enjoyed the experience. Didn't specify which specific location of theirs they were diving with, but here is the post:

Thank you for the information, very helpful.

We are in the West Bay now, @Ole Larson - we've been. here a month and were originally planning to try a few different dive shops. But the water/reef off this area has so much to offer, we've basically stayed here for the trip. We have been with West Bay Divers the entire time. They are professional, organized, accommodating, and safe - we dive w/nitrox and they follow all protocol. If you do multiple dives they will store your gear for you, too, so we just go home with whatever we feel we want with us (computer, small things like my lights/camera/etc. so I can get them cleaned). It's been super easy and we haven't repeated one dive the entire month.

We are not going out of the Kimpton - we are at the original shop a bit down the beach, which is a great place to go out of. But the dive masters, captains, and staff are all amazing. 2 more dives to go before returning and I'll be sad to go!

This is so great to hear, @JossRincon!

Please post a trip report! I think @R_P had West Bay Divers on his short list of "who to dive with in West Bay" for his upcoming trip - if he hasn't finalized his arrangements yet I'm sure he will be very interested in your experience with them.

Oh my, we are so happy with our time with them (ok, two more dive days remain... sooooo you never know ) I just posted a short trip report but will post some video/images/more details on the sea life/sites/etc. when I have come brain cells back. This place is absolute heaven.

Where are/were you staying? I will be on the island in a few weeks and my 3 boys will be doing the open water dives to get their certification. West Bay Divers in the Kimpton is near where we are staying and I am thinking about going with them or Paradise Beach Divers.

Being there a month, do you have some insight on places to eat, what to see on what day of the week (I've heard of crab races and fire dancers but not sure when or where). Will be our first time in Roatan as a group of 9 so looking for any insight.
