I have an event planned for this weekend at Portage Quarry. The Big 10 schools have divers coming from all over to dive there this weekend. I got reports today that parts of I-75 are being shut down through Findlay and the National Guard is called in for relief and Sand Bagging roads. Is the situation that dire up there? Am I going to be okay hosting this event at Portage or do I need to start planning a serious Plan B. Has anyone actually talked to Jeff or aware of the conditions for camping at the actual quarry. Is the ground just standing puddles that are going to be miserable?

The portion of 75 that were shut down is south and within Findlay.
I believe all that is shut down now is some entrance ramps that are lower. The main Interstate was opened up again yesterday evening.
Yesterday it took my other half 2 1/2 hours to get from Lima to Toledo due to the shut down.

The river in Findlay is expected to crest this afternoon.

I'm not sure how much water Wood County and the Bowling Green area got.

Here is a link to the story from our paper today about the flooding. We've been covering this pretty heavily. Hopefully it will subside by this weekend. It's mostly a problem around Findlay. So people coming from any direction other than the south shouldn't have a problem. But I'd call Jeff at Portage to check on quarry conditions.

I called Portage late this afternoon and was told they weren't having any issues at the Quarry. I then asked if the ground was dry enough that I wouldn't be tenting in a mud puddle. Same response - that the water issues were South of the quarry.
