Just got back from a trip to Nassau. We used a private charter operator. The diving was fantastic. On our first day we did a wall dive, a beautiful shallow reef dive, and a wreak dive that included sharks. It was very nice. The vis was 100+ feet and the water temps were low 70's....a 3 mil full suit seemed to work for everyone. A front coming thru ruined our 2nd day but we took the 45' boat the following day and dove in 2-4 swells.

The casino at the Atlantis was kind to us- the rooms fantastic....all in all a great trip. Custom Aquatics was the dive operator....Fran and Monty were great.

Hi Don

I just thought I'd add that we also really enjoyed diving around Nassau, especially as we had heard some bad press about it before we went.

We stayed at Sandals over the New Year break and all the diving was included within the package. We did 15 dives over 11 days. The dive center at Sandals was superb and with the exception of 1 dive we never visited the same spot twice.

Would I go back? Probably not as there is a whole world out there to explore, but I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone. Just to give you all an idea of what it was like you can download a 5 min diving video of our trip from

Thanks for sharing Simon....great video! I'd probably go back only because it's so close to the states and easy to get to for a quick weekend trip. The only thing I would do differently is that I's probably stay on the other side of the island from Atlantis. Although the resort was such an awesome place we had to commute everyday to the other side of the island to the dive shop and and ultimately the dive sites.

Many years ago I did my OW dives with Sandals. even staying at Sandal, we had a long drive to where the boat was docked. The boat did not pick us up at the resort, because the seas were too rough. Looking back now, after diving Coz, Bonaire, Curacao, cenotes in Mexico, I still have very fond memories. Of course, I dive in lakes that are no better than a mud puddle here, so Nassau diving kicks butt, compared to that!

I've been to Nassau 3 times, but only dove on the last trip.
I stayed at the Radisson Cable Beach twice & Sandals once. I loved Sandals, had a terrific time. I have not stayed at Atlantis, but I have hung out in their lagoon, pool, restaurant & it is an amazing property. Just huge.

Hi Don and Kat

We went past Atlantis, but we didn't go in. We had planned to take a trip there, but it was just so easy at Sandals that it was a real effort to leave the place! :)

They actually picked us up from the resorts pier every day apart from one when the sea was apparently too rough to dock. Being from the UK the sea didn't look rough at all!!

I wish I was a 3 hour flight away from Nassau. We tend to go to Spain a lot, which is only 2 hours away, but no where near as good diving. The Red Sea is only 4 hours away though so I can't really complain can I?!

Cheers, Simon
