Wow; I'd better hurry up. He got certified less than 4 months before I did, and I've only got (starts counting; removes shoe and sock to use toes) 11 logged dives.

Granted, if someone lived in a prime diving location, 1000 dives in 381 days would not be that outrageous, as it comes to an average of (takes off other shoe and sock; takes off shirt to count on chest and belly hairs...) 2.6246719 dives per day.

Now, if I didn't have to work for a living, and retired to someplace where the water was warm and inviting year 'round, and of course had plenty of money for tank fills and boat rides, I could easily imagine logging two or three dives every day. It'd be even easier if I managed to wrangle myself a situation where I got paid to dive every day.

Alas, such jobs are very uncommon here in the middle of the Sonoran Desert...

1,000 + dives in 384 days are unlikely if you work at Sea World doing tank maintenance.

total BS.

also u cant enlist as a m.p. in the marine u have to be in for a while in the army u can come off the street as one there are big deferens

can I make a Moderator request.

Can we change the name of this thread to "Total BullSH**". It definately has nothing to do with nude diving and the suggested title is a much better description.

How are you going to tell someone they don't know what they are talking about because of different branches of service then turn around tell them how marines operate compared to the army. Man get your lies right before you open your mouth.

BTW you title is NOT office friendly.
:rofl3:

Oh, I guess I should have mentioned that the MWR tv stations weren't run by the Marines. IIRC it was the Air Force. Regardless it covered all the branches on island (so everyone but the Coast Guard)

Okay; in fairness, if diving was part of his military job, he may not have needed certification from an outside agency. While the UCMJ applies equally to ALL branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, the code that was citied referred to recreational diving.

While I imagine a Navy SEAL or an Air Force PJ or their analogs in the other branches would have no problems whatsoever passing certification requirements with any dive training agency, I doubt Uncle Sam is going to hold up their mission performance if they don't get their PADI OW card before deployment.

Ergo, while I cannot say that Scuba Dew is telling the truth, it seems to me it would be possible for him to have logged dives in the military before getting his civilian certification.

Just as a personal observation aside, when our cruise ship returned to San Pedro, California, at the end of our cruise last year, two or three boatloads of divers showed up next to it, from a couple of different law enforcement agencies. Since the ship had visited Ensenada, Mexico, I figured these divers were inspecting for anything possibly tagged onto the hull of the ship below the waterline, such as drugs, terrorist weapons, or bootleg copies of Ishtar.
