Just got back from diving in Nahant (no particular spot). I went with a friend who owns a small little boat around 7:30am this morning. We went out for lobsters and scallops.

Dive details (without looking at my computer)
First Dive: 45 ft at 35 minutes
We went looking for scallops but barely found enough to fill a bag so we moved on to hunting for bugs instead, my friend ended up grabbing 2 and I came up with nothing. Probably only got about 15 scallops.

Second dive: 30ft at 49 minutes
This dive was for lobsters only. I ended up with four keepers and a lot of close calls. My friend got 5

Total: 11 lobsters
My friend also went out yesterday and they came back with 12 so I guess Nahant isn't too bad for lobsters.

Last thing, I swear we saw the biggest lobzilla i've ever seen. Granted i've only been diving for about 3 years but my friend who has been diving about 8 years said this was the biggest one he has ever seen. It probably could have seriously severed a limb if it wanted to. Looked like it was about 45lbs. No joking. It was one of those camera moments where neither of us had a camera for proof.

Unfortunately, we didn't do too well for scallops, Does anybody here still go out for scallops? I'm looking for a good place/partner to go.

Ya, in Nahant there is supposed to be a huge lobster...but, it hides in a pipe inside a cave ...hubby has seen it but nobody can get to it..and that's a good thing. though i know that the lobstering there isn't the greatest and i'm surprised that you actually found some. as too scallops it's not a good place for them. we go out on the boat and go further out in the Salem harbor for lobster and scallops.

I don't know. It really wasn't bad for lobstering. I didn't go out yesterday but they apparently got 12 on Tuesday with very similiar results last week. I'm going out again tomorrow so we'll see how I do.

There's no such thing as a "close call." Just try telling that to the EP! I hope you can afford a new set of gear. Please don't ruin lobstering for the rest of us. You should know better...

If I recall from your previous thread with lord1234, people we're giving you guys a hard time :o). Internet message boards don't bother me. Anyway to add more details just to please the scubaboard elites, "close calls" meaning measuring underwater and wishing I could keep them because they were very close...

pretentious scubaboard elitists can now turn off your flaming radar. haha.

It's amazing how serious these things are taken here.

LIKE OMG GUYS! The EP EP, My children, my two million dollar beach house, and entire lifesavings were TAKEN BECAUSE I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO TAKE A SHORT.

Note for the slow: i'm joking. We're all here to have fun and talk about diving :o) A little sarcasm never hurt anybody.

This is the Lobsterzilla we saw last year at the Nubble (some time you do have a camera).

Nice one. Although I want to say the one we saw was bigger. It was the biggest one i've ever seen anyway. Amazing it lasted this long

Went out again today (7/28) only 4 keepers.
