As I have said, at present, that is what you need to do to download your data.

Once you get your data..... then you can move on or contiune to pursue an adequate solution.

I am certainly not taking the finger of the line.

It is clearly marked Zeagle. If I had bought it from Seiko, then my grip would be with them. I really have not figured out why you want to place any blame at all with Microsoft. When I contacted Zeagle I was not told to F-Off but they might as well have. Their solution was to send me here and this has been such a big help. Yeah, right. The only help it has been is a place to vent my frustrations. It has almost become laughable Zeagle’s inaction on this matter.

And STILL they refuse to respond! :dontknow:

I will post a response tomorrow regarding the current status and future of the download software.

I can say that the current software will not work on 64bit systems.
I tried several work rounds on 64bit but they all failed to load the driver.
No dealer should have ever stated that it could or would.

I personally believe that Seiko totally screwed Zeagle and Dive Rite on these computers and I hope that all remaining dive manufactures never do business with Seiko again.

Gibby, Before I purchased the N2ition 3 from the dealer I went to the Zeagle website. On the Zeagle website it did not say that it was not compatible with Vista 64 bit. That was not added to the Zeagle website until after I had purchased the computer and downloader. $499.00 for the Computer and $144.00 for the downloader. When I contacted Zeagle their only solution for me was to check out this message board. Although you say that Seiko has screwed Zeagle. I feel Zeagle has done the same to me. They have offered me ZERO solutions to my issue. All I see on here a bunch of technical hoops that I should not have to jump though. Oh, I am going to sell you a car, BUT you are going to have to take a piece of wire I tie back this switch and then move this hose over to that spot over there. Then that will allow you to start the car. Once you get it started you will have to put the hose back where it was and remove the wire. This will then allow you to put the car in gear, BOOM it’s fixed. That’s the same as all the work arounds that I have seen so far. If this is what Zeagle calls customer service then this computer has been the first and last Zeagle product I will ever purchase. Since Zeagle did not make the computer and all the blame is being pointed at Seiko, heres a novel idea. Maybe Zeagle should stick with what they do know. Which at this time is not dive computers.

PS. any comments Scott?

We are working on a few things on this end...it is a very frustrating process, for certain.

The computers seem to be fine, it is just the software that is a bugger.

I apologize for the troubles that you all are havine, and I certainly understand your level of annoyance. In my personal life, I am dealing with the same sort of thing with Verizon Wireless right now, so I can easily put myself in your shoes.

Scott

Well, anything Gibby? You said "tomorrow" last week. I understand it's frustrating for both you and Zeagle, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to do this, but I was having issues with downloading my N2ition (Nitek Duo, IQ-700, Quantum, etc.) with WinXP 32bit. So I installed other manufacturers software, and the only one that worked for me was the Apeks. Maybe this can help some people while they wait for a Zeagle solution. Note this only works for the N2ition. The Apeks software is so-so. I exported the data to one of the free dive log software packages for more flexibility and a cleaner interface.

I have the Zeagle N2ition3 as well, and still can't download my dives.... but that's a secondary concern, because I'm on my second 'trio' that cannot accurately measure depth, so the 20 dives I have on it have garbage dive profiles anyways. I think I'm going to see if my LDS will let me have a 3rd N2ition3, or maybe a different computer all together... I'm getting very sad and frustrated.:(

The official word.

Software status:
The download software works 'as is' on XP Vista and Windows 7.
It does not work on ANY 64 bit version.
Just like ANY software out there it may not work on your system no matter what version of windows you have.
There are several annoying bugs in the software that cannot be fixed because we will not be receiving the source files to the software from seiko.

At this point in time Seiko Epson will not be doing any further development updates or support for the software package. Seiko will not be providing us with communication protocols to allow this to be used on third party software.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING COMPLETELY BEFORE ACTING

Zeagle will be sending out a bulletin to its dealers in the near future letting them know that if customers wish to return their USB download adapter (undamaged) for the reason of 'incompatibility issues' that this is to be totally acceptable.

There will be conditions that have to met to return your cable to your dealer. These will include normal and obvious things like the unit being undamaged, including a copy of the receipt and returning it to the dealer where your purchased it.

Do not try to return your cable until the dealers have been officially notified.
When the letter goes out it will be announced here to let you know.

As resources become available I and Zeagle will continue to investigate possible solutions for downloading dive logs to your PC but at this point and time we are at a dead end.

If anybody is or knows somebody who can reverse engineer serial and USB communications PLEASE put them in contact with me.

EDIT: JUST TO BE CLEAR - The software is also not compatible with Windows 95, 98, 2000, Millennium(Me), XP 64bit, Media Edition XP/Vista/7, Media Center, CS Vista 64, Windows 7 64 bit and windows Mobile. Apple versions 1 - X are not compatible, Android is a no go along with any distribution of Linux/Unix and Atari DOS is defiantly not compatible.

Since Seiko refuses to release the communication protocols or actually care about their customers. I have tried a last ditch effort by posting a request to add support to a shareware dive program. I know it's a mac program, but maybe it just might help out some people. The thread is listed below.

Got the following response (via Private Message)
Anyone want to help the guy out. I for one have not bought one of those cables yet,
but am still thinking of doing it.

As far as seiko (who actually is the manufacturer) they don't care and won't even release their communication protocols. If there is any way to add this computer in, it would help a large amount of people with no where else to turn. The very limited download program they do have (which is a hit or miss) works under 32 bit windows only. If you need the background on the computer, here is zeagle's help thread.

Hey,

We don't currently support any zeagle stuff, but there is some limited seiko support. If you would be willing to run a few tests and help out, we could definitely look at doing it.

You can drop a mail to me and Jef - support@mac-dive.com and jefdriesen@hotmail.com.

Take a look here:

libdivecomputer, a library for communication with various dive computers.

If you have the existing windows software, you can run the portmon test for us which would be the first step.
