This is exactly what I wanted to find out eventhough my question wasnt exactly spot on.

When you say the history of the computer are you talking about:
how many hours of diveing in total?
how many dives in total?

This is the data you cannot erase?

How about the dive logs? Can I erase those? Or should I download them first and then it will clear itself?

Thanks again

Don't know mate, have never pressed the button. But it is in your best interest that you can't delete the history as otherwise how do you differentiate between a new and a used model? (Assuming covers were easily accessible)

A further reason (of dark nature) would be to be able to determine, without any shadow of doubt, what the diver was doing at the time of an accident.

Go ahead and press the button. You'll find what gets wiped and what doesn't very quickly.

Any idea if the N2ition software will play well with other manufacturer's DC software/drivers on the same computer? I have a Sherwood Wisdom 2 that I use as a backup and would like to keep all of my dive software on the same PC.

Thanks!

This is getting frustrating.
The "new" WIN7 software not only doesn't sync with the dive computer, it doesn't even install on my desktop!
What do I try next, besides copying all the logs by hand onto paper and then using something else from now on?

I know its quite frustrating. However, please don't despair. Gibby has indicated that he is willing to develop a linux aplication (as in free source). Once that's done it should be easy to port to ANY operating system.

Please detail your installation steps, W7 version and dive computer type.

None yet.
The dive rite work around was bunk....
Trying again this weekend.

With dive season rapidly gaining momentum I have to have this resolved with a thumbs up or down ASAP. Time available to this project is getting thin.

Win 7 Home Premium on a dual core Intel, ASUS MB
N2ition2

Installed the software from the win7 link supplied here and then plugged the DC in via cable to the USB port.
The software is not to be found on my computer under All Programs and the hardware install wizard doesn't activate when the USB cable is plugged in.

Gibby,

As we wait for the Windows 7 64bit software issues to be resolved, I was wondering if the software can be run on Linux (Ubuntu) using the WINE emulator? This may be easier than trying to port it natively to Linux.

Don't think so.WINE is not very good handling usb plug-ins and you need one to sync . From my point of view the easiest thing would be to port the "C" code to Java... then it runs everywhere. That is, with one development it will run in Mac, Google, Linux, any version of windoze and any other thing you want to throw into the mix such as bsd, unix, etc.

I have put Gibby in contact with a fellow that may be able to help with that. I don't know how that's going or if Zeagle is interested at all (i.e I only introduced them through an unsolicited email).
