During the last weekend, my N2ition 3 stopped to work because the battery is dead. I bought this computer around May 09 and for a battery life who should live 3 years (50 dives/year).... it's quit short life. I want to know if something who could happen very often? I want to change the battery but do I need to change the seal (O ring) too?

Mario -

The battery should last for about 3 years...but batteries sometimes have other ideas.

The good news is, you can pick one up locally, and they aren't expensive.

As long as there is no damage to the o-ring, it should be fine. Just make sure it isn't dried out or anything.

If the battery continues to be an issue, please let me know!

Thanks,

Scott

It's really simple to change the battery and here are a few tips to help you out.

Only use a coin to remove and replace the battery plate.
Using a screwdriver can crack it.

Keep the replacment battery clean and be sure not to touch the internal battery contacts. Acids on your fingers 'could' possibly cause the contacts to corrode.
I've never seen it but it was suspected in few cases on the drive rite models of dive computers.

Be sure the o-ring is clean and I would add a very slight amount of silicone to the O-ring when you put it back on. Just enough to make it shine. This will make 'next time' easier.

Hope this helps you.
