I thought I might pass this along since Im currently working on one of these surplus compressors. If you dont know for certain how long its been since the last time the unit was in service, I would highly recommend inspecting one of the cylinders on the compressor to make sure there isnt any corrosion in it before you engage it. Dont ask me how I know this but lets say Im lucky a rod wasnt pitched out the side of it.
The number 2 cylinder is the easiest to get to and you can inspect it by only removing the cylinder head and valve assembly providing the piston isnt at the top of its stroke.
