I thought I might pass this along since I’m currently working on one of these surplus compressors. If you don’t know for certain how long its been since the last time the unit was in service, I would highly recommend inspecting one of the cylinders on the compressor to make sure there isn’t any corrosion in it before you engage it. Don’t ask me how I know this but let’s say I’m lucky a rod wasn’t pitched out the side of it.

The number 2 cylinder is the easiest to get to and you can inspect it by only removing the cylinder head and valve assembly providing the piston isn’t at the top of its stroke.
 
I got lucky and it runs and seems to be OK so far .

Had to replace fuel filter, third stage gauge is bad, fuel tank has to be cleaned, and it has something going on where the tach shorts out intermittently and it will seem to "bleed" when it does so. One thing that bugs me is it seems that you have to hold the hi-lo regulator to bring it up to pressure as you cannot just set it. I may be wrong and really will have to get a manual. It has a lot of doo-hickeys I am unfamilar with. :)

It is running in the picture above and will pressurize the little 90cu? receiver bottle to 3700 in about 4-5 minutes.
