Wow Andy, I have always seen them first, and I don't think our version of the Stonefish hangs out under the sand. Good info on the heat actually helping. Many, many years ago I contracted Florida's equivalent of Lyme disease from a tick. It took a lot more out of me than I would have thought and it was 6+ years before I felt I was truly past all the symptoms. Unlike you, I had no pain, just the heart crap and flu like symptoms. 6 courses of antibiotics over two years. I hope this is far quicker for you.

I'll be going in for an ECG later this week. First time for me that I've been faced with real health implications - sobering. I've bashed and smashed and crashed my way through life thus far and it was never something that a few weeks in a plaster cast, some anti-biotics, a few months of physiotherapy and a pot of tiger balm wouldn't sort out. Way more scary when it's the heart - I can't just 'soldier on' unless I know that pushing it won't make things worse.

Because it's an issue with venom, I have no idea whether these are just symptoms, or whether some actual cardio-vascular damage has been done.

What's worse.... no coffee. I mean... seriously! :(

thoughts are with ya! Not sure what else can be said. Feel better, get better....

Thank goodness you are in the caring hands of your partner the doctor! Have you contacted DAN SEAP? I'm sure they will be interested in your case. There's a report form I can send on to you if you don't have one. If there's anything I can do for you from Thailand--if you need to come to Bangkok for some advanced care or something (we really do have world-class medical care here), I even have a place you can stay for a few days--let me know.

There were a couple of people who thought I was overreacting after I shot this. I was taking the picture, saw her hand coming in, and pushed it away. Back on the boat, I showed her what she'd never noticed and encouraged her to work on her bouyancy.

Hope things clear up for you soon, Devon.

Wow Dirty, that's a great and sobering pic...I'd say someone owes you a few beers at a minimum.

DevonDiver, good luck to you, I know I'll be pulling for a full and speedy recovery!

The lady in question didn't seem to think bumping the reef was that big a deal. Nor did she seem to think touching the rockfish would have been a big deal.

She certainly didn't offer to buy me a drink....

So Andy, how are you feeling? We can tell that you are still alive, because you are on other threads!

My heart issues seem to have subsided now - regular pulse and blood pressure (BP had dropped to around 80/60 at it's worst). Energy levels recovering slowly, 4 days ago I attended a family wake that shattered me - managed to go out last night (trip the cinema) which is the most active thing I've managed in the last 3 weeks.. Might try swimming a few lengths tomorrow and see how I feel. I'm hoping to get back underwater properly in the next 1-2 weeks, will do a few dives to self-assess, before running any courses.
