Springs straps!!! Can't wait to dive them. The first one took some time getting setup but after that it was pretty easy. I wish I had quick access to some delrin rod but the puck pieces will do. They don't look as good but it's not too bad.

My Dad and I put them together. We used some nylon strap from mountain equipment coop instead of rubber tubing. I like how that looks. They seem sturdy which is the most important thing I guess.

I think they're just SS welding rods. My friend is a machinist so I gave him the original turtle buckles and he made them for me.
 
The spring is attached to the welding rod inside the puck pieces. They're essentially just a housing for the welding rods.
