'Have been wrapping all my fin springs to keep out line.

'Seeing the naked springs of @MB NZ pic, makes me wonder how many divers wrap their springs with 1" tubular webbing?

Also, @Brett Hatch's buddy's double ender does not play well with a sleeve. (@ least mine doesn't.)

It wasn't by design, the plastic pull tabs on those cheap spring straps broke, so didn't seem much point leaving the rest of it on. I was going to put tubing of some kind over the top, but noticed on another pair of fins with covered spring straps that there was a little corrosion underneath, presumably because they couldn't dry out properly. I haven't been tangled in any lines yet, but I'm not a cave diver.

Effectic
Shouldn't be a horrible, right?
It looks fine. Simple and effective. Be sure to CA all the knotty parts. I was a big fan of spring straps but haven't seen the need for them in decades. I even sourced out a lighter spring as they bothered my Achilles heel.

Yeah the spring sprung strap fin strap be it rubber or steel fighting to detriment the Achilles Tendon the entire dive

Wow that's smart, again!

Still!

Nope, standard straps again for me all the way

Smarter still!

Yeah go on, go push on a tendon, see what happens can it be any dumber

I read through all the various threads I could find on this topic, looked at all of the various purchase options, and decided that ~3 cents worth of nylon line was the best option. Added these little braided nylon pull tabs.

Shouldn't be a horrible, right? I don't think the loop is big enough to risk snagging too much, but still can get a 5mm or 7mm index finger through them.

I'd suggest running the "finger loop" through some soft plastic tubing, as in:

That will help keep the loop from "collapsing" (ie., prevent the wet line from sticking to itself), which will make it difficult to find the loop blindly, in current/surface chop, with cold & water-puckered fingers.

The tubing can be 3mm or 4mm or 1/8" aquarium hose, or whatever is lying around in the basement junk drawer.

Hint -- you can do the same thing using a bungie or zip-tie instead of string...the ziptie is easier to tighten than tieing line to create a loop of a precise size, and the bungie is self-tightening...both are less floppy than string and a good way to add gear attachment points to a knapsack or a BCD (you know, an underwater backpack with a balloon instead of a compartment to stuff in a sleeping bag).
