I had 7 dives over the weekend down south of Thailand around Koh Tao and Chumporn in the Gulf of Thailand. Did not see anything too spectacular but it was a nice little practice before my big trip next month.

Aha i was waiting for these...

Nice colour saturation that is for sure. Seems nice and sharp. Still a more Cyan in that sunburst than i was hoping for.

What are your thoughts on the camera? Did the larger size give you any problems? Comfortable to dive with?

Give us more!! :)

Mike

Mike, well, after dealing with Sea and Sea D70 housing, the Subal ND2 actually felt ok and it was not any bigger.
I am still trying to figure out the sunball deal on dSLR. At least it looks a bit more promising than the D70 :)

The weight of the housing/Ikelite DS125 actually was not an issue and it was quite manueverable.

The GS viewfinder took some getting use to. If you look through it exactly right, the viewfiner is huge, you can see everything including all the status display easily. However if I am bit off axis,
I could not see anything at all. After a few dives, I probably get the viewfinder in the axis right off the bat about 80% of the time but will need a bit more practice to be comfortable with it.
However when it is right, it is very very handy.

Yea, the sunbursts do look better than the 70, i would like a viewfinder like that but my housing doesn't offer one, really took some getting used to to get the small finder down pat

Sounds like you had some fun with it, good to get in some practice before the big trip to Indo!

I got used to the smallish viewfinder on D70 after awhile and did not have problem seeing the entire frame like some of my divebuddies. However I have to say that when I looked at Subal GS viewfinder the first time (on D70 housing) it was really quite a big surprise. Well, for Lembeh, I suppose I can leave my 12-24mm and 10.5mm at home and just stick with 70-180mm macro for awhile :) so no more sunball pictures in the near future.
Somehow I don't think the D2X will quite manage the sunball like your Nikonos V and the jellyfish picture several months ago.

Here are a couple more:

So far so good, please keep posting. All eyes are upon this camera.

Yes, so far so good. The resolution is excellent and the camera seems to handle highlight area extremely well. Although I heard the Fuji S3 may be a bit better in that respect.
My big problem now is that when I have bad photos, I won't be able to blame the camera as readily now :(
