I was lurking on these forums and had seen plenty of positive reviews of the DSS rig and decided to go that route, to be fair to my dive shop I let them know what I was desiring and give them a shot at an alternate product but they did me one better when they couldnt turn me they contacted DSS and for very similar pricing I was able to get it through my LDS.

First impression was awesome, I thought this to be a very high quality piece of equipment. After 9 or so dives on it I had a small problem which I will clarify had nothing to do with DSS or the quality of the product but nevertheless it needed to return to DSS for a quick fix. Tobin called me up to discuss and gave me several options and had it turned around to me right away. My experience with him was very positive he is quite a stand up guy.

Suffice to say I am very happy with my purchase and look forward to diving it for some time to come.

Thanks Tobin!

I met someone from DSS, I think he's Tobin's partner, on the Spectre the week of the 4th. After receiving a 20min lecture about why my Zeagle and every other piece of equipment I use is a POS, I will never buy DSS. I heard him giving another diver the same lecture and I believe that he walked away with the same feelings I experienced. "I can dive any rig you put in front of me" is not the right way to start a sales pitch. I am about to purchase a bp/w too!

Tobin, I've heard that you're a great guy (with great products) from many people who dive your gear, I just can't support people that try to make others feel inferior for something that is so customized to the individual. I've heard that this guy has a rep for this kind of behavior. I suggest a restructuring of upper management (if that's what this guy is).

my 2 cents

LOL!!!

Classic...

For those of you asking what it is, just click the link in his profile

Billy,

I'm sorry you were offended by any DSS personel. Al, who does our soft goods design and production was on the Spectre, with a freind. Al's very passionate about what he does, and he's always happy to answer questions. Some of our friends and recent BP&W converts can be passionate also.

Al tells me that he extended an offer for you and your buddy to come by and demo our gear. The offer stands, you might be surprised to find AL doesn't have horns.

Regards,

Tobin

I'd second that. I bumped into Al at Hollywood divers and he seemed like a great guy.

Even helped my fix my POS Halcyon wing too :)

I'll definitely be looking at the DSS wings when some random other piece of mine decides to suddenly not work any more (or I just need another wing)

Billy,

Get over it. Wait until you're with a bunch of DIR dweebs (by the way, next time use the words, "Shut up, who are you, Jacques Cousteau, or somethin?")

DSS makes some of the best equipment out there; it's Life support equipment, dude...
