However the appealing thing is to have the known garmin ui/apps however I am logging my dives in the SSI app, so I will have to copy the data anyway
Why? As far as dive log apps, that has got to be one of the worst. I used it for a bit when it worked with Garmin computers, but that’s been disabled. It’s a horrible app.

The Garmin dive app is much better. The same holds true for any other DC manufacturer or 3rd party dive log apps.

Are you waiting long enough for it to acquire entry location? My MK2s captures exit each time. As long as I allow time to acquire satellites before the dive, it will record entry as well.
Yes. I wait for the bar to go green, finish putting it in dive mode, and jump in. Twice today I did this and it didn't capture the location of either dive. It worked for my first 4 dives and I didn't know how it worked, and now that I'm more familiar with it, it is not working.

I've attached a pic of the screen where I wait for the top bar to go green. I'm inside right now and it won't go green, but does when I'm outside. I continue pressing the top right button to enter dive mode and enter the water.

Well that doesn’t sound right. I’d reach out to Garmin to see if they can help. Mine has worked flawlessly on every dive. Early on I would forget to give it time to acquire location. On those dives, it didn’t get the entry, but got the exit. It’s been real accurate, too. Helped me to retrieve my anchor last year. I hit the mark button on my boat gps, and used that first, but didn’t find it. Went back a bit later using the Garmin entry, and found it on the first dive.

Would Garmin help me if I bought it used?

I decided to restart it last night and it tracked my location on 2 dives today.
