I have a Genesis 1.2, a newer one would be even better. Specifically mine is a little loud, the new ones are quieter due to updated motor controllers and have a built in battery monitor. Mine has the add on Sentry dashboard for battery monitoring which seems like a decent unit (although lacking features I would want) but mine was purchased used and hasn't been reliable (I blame this on the previous owner and I will eventually send it back to get looked at).

The DPV is incredibly robust. The term "industrial" comes to mind.
The charge connection is a wet connector so there are no seals which you have to regularly open and the hull stays closed.
Magnetic propeller coupling means no shaft seal to leak, ever. Basically zero wear parts since the ceramic shaft bearing has a lifespan of something like 10,000 hours.
The handle isn't as ergonomic as a T handle but for me the constantly variable throttle is worth it. I can speed match other scooters or a current on demand. I keep the trigger locked unless clipping off. The factory trigger lock is not very easy to manipulate with gloves but is easily modified.

If you live in North America and ever need service they are made in California. I can't see buying a different brand. I dive with a lot of Suex owners, I haven't dove with a Seacraft.

Thank you for the detailed response. I appreciate it. I'm diving one this weekend and looking forward to it. Thank you again.

Had a week of deeper diving in the sea off of Scotland last week. Pleased to say that my Blacktip worked flawlessly with no leaks and no startup issues.

Am very happy with it especially as at $1800 it is 20% of the price of the $8970 Genesis 3.1 DPV.

Do you have a Genesis? What made you pick it over others? Anything you dislike? I'm trying one this weekend and was on the fence between that and a seacraft or the suex ek.

I have a Genesis 2.1.

I don't know what a Suex EK is. Maybe you meant XK. I like the Genesis better because I think it has longer runtime (comparing similar-sized models) and you don't have to open the Genesis hull to charge it.

I like the Genesis better than the Seacraft Future or Ghost because I think the Genesis is more robust and requires less maintenance. And the Genesis Warp Core makes replacing batteries (eventually) a FAR, FAR less expensive proposition than replacing the batteries in a Seacraft. I think it only takes something like 2 battery changes before the Genesis is actually less expensive than a comparable Seacraft or Suex, or Dive-X Cuda X.

And, I *think* that the Genesis will actually last long enough to eventually wear out the batteries and replace them twice - without any other maintenance. Charge it, drive it, replace the batteries every few years. A full set of batteries for a Genesis 2.1 or 3.1 is currently something like $350 and a pretty easy do-it-yourself project. A full set of batteries for a Seacraft Future 1000 is something like $2700.

This design would put the Genesis above all others in my opinion. One less hole to leak.

I'm happy to report that my replacement Blacktip tech arrived today. I was surprised that they supplied a brand-new replacement. The tube looks better built and is slightly a different color. It might be thicker throughout. It also has machined like lines on the exterior. My old one just looked like a plastic mold. The replacement tail also has the BT capabilities and additional functions like reverse. I recall being annoyed that they came out with his version shortly after I bought my original one. So, this makes up for it.
Don't forget to post photos of the differences, I know you don't have the old one to compare to, but perhaps point out the differences in the photos on the new tube. :D

Unfortunately, I don't have the new one anymore, I sold it to a buddy.

Has it been leak free with your buddy? I'm curious if the revisions to the tube have corrected the issues a few people seem to be seeing :D

No issues to report. I don't know if it's because of the new tube though.

“Unfortunately, I don't have the new one anymore, I sold it to a buddy.“. Mr Chen: Why did you ultimately sell your Blacktip?
