My 5"2' wife needs advise on wing

My wife is 5’2” 135 lbs she has a Trans Pac II (Small) that needs a wing that will not overwhelm her in size. We dive in Southern California but travel to catch some tropical diving as well. My Oxycheq 35 lbs wing is too long for her. The wing comes down pass her butt and the top of the wing rest on her neck.

Any wing recommendations are greatly appreciated.

I don't suppose you've checked out a Travel Wing?
Those critters are nice & compact, the new style even works on backplates.

I am 5'2 to 5'3 depending on how straight I stand up!
I weigh about 130-135 myself.

My wife and I just got the Diverite backplates with transplate and the Venture Wings. These wings are a donut design with 30 lbs lift. Very compact and perfect for my 5'2" 128 lb wife. She loves it.

My wife is 5'3", 115 lbs. She uses an Eclipse 30lb and is quite comfortable with it. My son is 4'11" and uses the same wing with a short bp. Again no problems.

I guess you're talking about the 30lb Standard wing - there is no 35lb wing in the OxyCheq lineup.

My wife is 5'0" and uses the 30lb Signature wing, which has a totally different shape to the 30lb Standard wing. It's a more compact design, and is not as tall.

I don't know athing about Oxy's 35lb wing. The 18 pounder is fine in warm water for my 12 yo son (4'8")

For my wife (5'0") she dives and has no problem with either OMS' 45 lb single bladder no bungie or Dive Rites Trek wing. Her backplate is Oxycheq's 13.1 inch small SS plate and I set it up with OMS' Comfort Harness without the disconnects.

I think your problem is that you should be looking at double tank wings. Most of the single tank wings have an oval shaped bladder. You would be better off without air/lift below the butt.

No!!!! You don't need a double tank wing!! A double tank wing will completely swallow a small person, and they are horrible with a single tank. Also, a doubles wing will probably extend below her posterior too, and will be a big mess flopping around. (The wing, not the rear)

Well, my biggest dislike of the DR Trek wing is that it's so darn short ... might just be right for your wife.

On the other hand, I'd recommend she take a look at the DR Venture wing. It's more compact than the Oxycheq. I had one, and sold it to a gal who's 5'3" tall ... and she loves it.
