In march i'm planing on camping on the beach at mustang island state park.

Has anyone ever dove there. is it worth taking my gear and doing a beach dive?

I read a review a long time ago about someone that dove the "jetty" at Fish Pass on Mustang Island (north end of the park). It was likened to diving in pure silt with the "extra adventure" of monofilament and fish hooks. And that was in the summertime, when it's NICE out.
Here's a link to a marketing article with an extremely exaggerated snorkeling section.

You're better off diving in the alligator pond by the front gate.

still have the mosquitos that look like baby birds...?

Take DEET.
