I have a mustache and sometimes have a small leak in my mask, sometimes not. Do other people with mustaches have this problem?

Yep. Constant seepage of water into my mask. But I sure know how to clear!

hmm... well... i keep my goatee trimmed short, so... no, no problems

i've heard that putting some vaseline on the mustache can help

sometimes I get a slight leak, but not enough to bother. Besides, if the mask fogs I have a little water to swish.

I use a good flavored lip balm... I prefer one that is not too firm like chapstick, but more firm than carmex. I get little to no leakage.

I've heard (but can't back up) that vaseline will destroy a mask over time and that silicone lube is a better choice.

I have had a mustach for most of my dives and just practice clearing a little more than everyone else. It wasn't a problem until I started rebreather diving (gas consumption increases dramatically compared to not clearing as often).

When I have my beard I shave about 1/8" under my nose - works 75% of the time... the rest of the time... well that's why we learn to clear our mask right?

Aloha, Tim
