The KaaBoo Cayman festival will take place on Seven Mile Beach on Feb 15 & 16, 2019; see the link below. If you plan to be on Grand Cayman at that time then you may be interested in attending - or you might prefer to avoid the area if you wish to avoid crowds!

I'm going with the second option - it will likely be a zoo!

I can't image that accommodation is going to be cheap or even available, if it's as popular as some are saying it could be.

A good time to park out at East End and work on the Green Shorts Challenge!

I'll be there the first week....good or bad, I have no idea but I do like music!

I have a room at the Comfort Suites for one night at $255 (over $300 after taxes and all) on Feb 1st....it ain't cheap!

I am thinking about planning a trip off island while the festivities are on. Apparently many hotels are already largely block booked, traffic/parking will be a nightmare. I live near the venue so not thrilled. Also there are many satellite events around the island in the plans. Great music lineup but hard to comprehend where everyone will ho on such a small land mass. That presale of tickets is apparently moving right along. I am not sure how good the event will be for traditional tourism especially during what should be during a busy time on our calendar. Keeping fingers crossed.

We got tickets during the presale, as we are going to be on island anyway and might as well enjoy the music as long as we have to suffer the crowds. They are expecting to sell about 11,000 tickets, so not a huge concert by US standards. And on a busy cruise day we can get over 15,000 people arriving, so not unheard of crowds, except cruisers mostly stay close to Georgetown. I'm guessing that a lot of people going would either be locals or visitors who would be on island anyway. We know of a few locals who are going. Regarding parking, they will be building parking space for 2000 cars and running non-stop shuttles from other parts of the island to alleviate the parking situation (per the promoter: "Parking passes will be provided to people who purchase a certain VIP-level pass, and most concert attendees will be brought to the grounds through a network of shuttle buses."), and Dart (who built the venue) and the promoters pledged to reduce the inconvenience to the neighbors, but good luck with that @caydiver.

Where is the venue? I also hope they are taking serious steps to avoid the trash that these events generate from ending up in the ocean!

The venue is located northside of the Kimpton, which is just north of Seven Mile Beach. The venue is across the road from the beach, btw. And the event promoters on the island are generally very good about environmental issues (the beaches and reefs are the key tourist attraction after all). The island runs several large festivals (e.g., Pirate's Week, Batabano Carnivale, Taste of Cayman) with no problem. You can be sure they had to plan for a proper clean-up before getting a permit to hold the event. Especially if they want to do it again, as planned.

Thanks - good to know!
