Hi Ladies

do you ladies get muscle aches ;-0 after diving over the weekend ???

I'm still new to diving & only been to 2 dive trip. But I notice, I get muscle aches after each diving trip. ( DCS is ruled out, cos the aches will go away after a day or two) & Over here , we are into repetitive dives. One normal weekend, we can have 6 dives (incl Nite Dive). :bounce: which I kind of like it ...

so am I really that weak or wat ?? I'm a regular swimming = excerise , then how come I still get muscle aches..

any suggestion...

Thks

If it's cramps that seem to be hurting you, it could be a lack of potassium. It might also be the way you kick. Try not to be so forceful. Don't know if that helps or not but there it is.

One thing for sure, It's not cramps :)

The way I kick...mmm....seem fine to me cos I'm not too fast or too slow :D

But thanks anyway ..any advice is welcome :)

Could also be that you're not used to swimming constantly for such a long durration. Dehydration might also be a factor; as well as how cold the water is.

Are your legs, hips, jaw, neck, shoulders, back or some combination of those getting sore?

When you swim to exercise do you swim with fins? A flutter kick with fins uses different muscles than a swimming kick. You could try snorkeling instead of swimming for exercise.

The more regularly you dive the more the "diving muscles" will become accustomed to being used. Soon you will notice you're not as sore as you used to be. I've found this to be especially true of my jaw muscles!

Hope this helps!

but it could be hauling the gear around. Maybe a strength training program is in order at the gym. I know it helped me.

my back was a little bit sore the next day after 4 boat dives, but I know it was from the weight of the tank. What bothered me the most was my knee. We got into current and I have a bad knee anyway and that just about did me in. I have since joined a gym to improve my knee and over all strength. I would love to be able to lug the equipment around with a little less effort as well....:)

do you lug around ? When doing shore dives, I hafta lug 35 lbs up and down the shore, sometimes up a hill like today, do long surface swims, etc and ugggh my body aches like a (*&# the next morning..
what i also noticed is that i get dull headache that lasts for a couple days too after diving and carrying all that weight.. (i did went diving in the tropics a couple months ago and i didnt get a headache after diving..must be carrying all that gear combined with pressure or whatever, who knows..)

A headache that lasts a few days sounds like a CO2 headache to me. Do over the counter meds help it (Advil, aspirin, tylenol?).

Don't know why you'd get one shore diving and not boat diving....hmmmm.

Hello.. no i havent tried any aspirin, advil, etc.. maybe i should.. it doesnt really hurt if im sitting around or whatever, just when i start carrying heavy stuff like cleaning my equip, tanks, etc after a dive.. i was reading about that CO2 thing, but I breathe normally underwater, i dont do skipbreathing or anything like that.. hrmrmrm... how do you get C02? ive only done 4 days of diving (6 dives) so far including my OW (im a newbie!) but i did get a headache after the boat dive.. aaarghhh
