My wife and I went up to storm today, much warmer than last week end, 27 degrees. But a little windy. My wife was diving her new doubles for the second time, and she was diving wet. So we new it would be a short dive. WE went down to the main platform, then on down to the 50'. We then dropped down the line toward the 90'. on the way down I discovered that one of the lines had broken loose from the 90' platform. This line is floating out from the wall, and floating up around the deep side of the 50' platform. It would be very easy to become entangled in it if you weren't paying attention. vis is down and the line is dirty, and hard to see. I had planned to go back and remove it after my wife got out, but I had to assist her climbing the steps, it had snowed about 1/2" while we were underwater, and was quite slick. If no one removes it this week, I will return next week end and remove it myself. Untill it is removed, everyone should be careful.

Thanks for this warning (although I don't dive Mt Storm) I just wanted to express concerns that you be very careful yourself; risking entanglement even while attempting to remove this hazzard for others!

I will definitely be very careful, I have dealt with things of this nature in the lakes in texas. Not fun, but necessary.

Davey and I went back to storm today. It was a beautiful day,:D 45, sunny , but a little windy. You can't have everything! When we got in, we headed down to the main platform, did a bubble check, then on down to the 50' to see if the the stray line was still there. It was , stil floating around just off the deep side of the platform. I went down to the arm, and started coiling it, while Davey stayed above me in case of entanglement. When I reached the end of the rope I discovered why it was floating. It was attached to an old plastic jug, that had at one time been the float at the platform. It was partially filled with water, but had enough air in it to float. I cut the line off the arm, then knocked a hole in the jug, so it wouldn,t float around. We tied it off, then went on down to the 90' platform, and on down to about 105'. We picked up the line and jug at the end of the dive, and carried out. A great dive, and it was 48 degrees when we got out, and the wind had died down a lot. A great day for storm in the winter.

Yrth,

What is the water temp at storm right now?

Aquaman 06 49 to 50 at 50'. Water is fine, sometimes the surface is brutal.

Did the floating/dangling line to the platform look like it was rotted or snapped or cut? This has happened before. I found the line floating upward once before but did not have another line or means to fix it myself.
Thanks for your efforts by-the-by.:clapping:

We should probably replace all the lines this spring (again).
