We in the Great Lakes area are experiencing a lot of fin (CRACKS)
particularly on the bottom of our fins.

The area is invested with Zebra Mussels, just about every rock ans shoal is covered in them. Zebrra mussels have a razor sharp shell and Ibeleive that most of the so called crackes are infact cuts in the rubber, from steping on Zebra mussels.

I've checked my fins and My Volos, Quattros and old jet fins all have the tell tail slices in the bottoms.

Fins are not well suited to walking anyway. Are you walking in them?

No, more than I have to. but it's impossible to not do some standing and stepping at shore entrees.
The great lakes and Kawartha lakes area are infested with zebra mussles. Most of our open water dives are shore entree. You can't take a step and not find a rock with zebra mussles on it. The top of the mussel is sharp as a razor.

I just got a pair of Velos and I like the way how they give a little of both worlds when it comes to fin rigidity and an even flow through the water. I have not really noticed alot of problems with kicking in current . It is mainly the way you get used to your kicking style and used to the fins. Pricey but very effective for recreational diving.
