My MR12 +AKROS setup has been my trusty reliable reg for the last 17 years. From time to time, I get the itch of replacing it instead of getting it service. I no longer dive in cold water. It is fairly light and breathe well. What would you do? Is there an alternate that not disapoint me? I have seen other fussing over reg in the past. Not my case!

I wouldn't, the MR-12 which is based on the USD Conshelf design, is about as proven design as there is so at best you will break even with a new first stage performance wise. If I would do anything it would be to change second stages and then I am not too sure which stage to use. A restored SP-109 is hard to beat.
