Yeah it might take you 44# for awhile, not sure on your skill level but usually experience lends to less weight all around.

To the original question, 25# is plenty of ditchable weight, 10-15# would be plenty. The problem I foresee and would warn of, moving all that weight to one place (be it a tank weight or ankles, anything) is how it affects your trim (position and attitude in the water). Placing weight in various places is usually more beneficial, its good to maintain some ditchable weight and I applaud the line of thinking. Be wary moving so much weight to a cam-band (My assumption) may not be the "fix" you are looking for.

if that is the weight you need to dive with, then that is that, disposable weight is something that you can drop to bring you to the surface. if you have that much weight in the weight belt and you lose that weight belt, you will come up like a cork and that bad. 10 to 15 lbs that all you should have on your belt as disposable weight all the rest inter graded into your dive gear, either in your pcd or tank bracket etc..

(mimimus your disposable weight)

Actually I'm planning on putting a 9 pound lead plate in the boot of my tank, for most of it and and then I need to get another ten pound off the belt maybe 2 five pound cam bands, but my main concern was if i had to drop my belt loosing 44lbs at depth was going to send to the top at a very fast pace which i felt was getting into a unsafe situation. It seems the tank is the easest plase to shift weight. without going to an integrated bc or ankle weights.

Exactly I just need to find a good place to put all the weight :D

Well thanks for the help.

Tell us about your setup.

My current setup is an XL Aqua lung BC, 7mm XXL semi-dry wetsuit, 7mm XXXL hooded vest wetsuit, 7mm dive boots. Weightbelt with 4X 8lbs and 2X 5lbs 2X 1lbs in cast lead weights, Catalina: Aluminum Scuba Tank Standard 3000 PSI, sherwood regs, Tulsa fins, oceanic dive comp.

My new setup Would be the same only weight would be moving off my belt to the tank Probably A Nine pound plate in the tank boot, a five pound cam band in the middle and another near the top of the tank, which would drop my belt weight down to 25#.
