hey guys, I've been living in hawaii for the past 6+ years, and am relocating back to nyc in a few months. Lived in nyc before, never dove around the upper east coast. What thickness suit would you recommend for summer diving?

can you recommend some areas, websites that highlight scuba around nyc if there are any?

thanks.

I'm sure there must be a good reason to leave Hawaii and go to NYC, granted I can't think of any right off hand. :)

I do know that you got the wrong forum. You want the Wreck Valley forum for NY. This forum is generally about diving in the great lakes.

mmm....the sub-category says

"Great Lakes Wrecking Crew"
"Including the states of Northern Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin."

I guess I'll keep looking...

The GLWC does include part of NY - specifically in the sub-forum "Lake Effects Divers". However, given you'll be moving to NYC you'll be better served by going to the Wreck Valley forum to find local buddies / information.

Curious - moving back to NYC after living in Hawaii. WHY????? ;)

Go out into the sunshine. Take a deep breath of fresh air, or better yet strap on a tank of compressed air and go diving in warm salt water filled with tropical fish. Repeat until you come back to your senses.

In all fairness, in NY you can dive sunken subway cars, that's something I don't think you will ever be able to do in Hawaii :)
