Hi all! I am moving to both Austin, TX and Washington DC (it's complicated) from South East Asia, where I have been diving in tropical waters for the last 1.5 years. Now looking to meet people around these places and expand my diving horizons with cold waters and lakes :)

Hope to meet some of you around. In the mean time will read these forums closely to figure out the local ways.

Just left the Austin area, and to dive in Tropical waters, you'll want to join other Austin residents and fly to Cozumel, Mexico. Cheap air fare and a wonderful vacation spot for a weekend or months. Local diving will be lake Travis on the west side of Austin, and conditions are affected by heavy boat traffic, and years of accumulated runoff, thirty years ago this was a great diving spot. Southwest of Austin is a shallow clear river to snorkle or just cool off and enjoy some good visibility.

For a long weekend trip, a trip up to Ouachita lake in Arkansas will be as good as Travis ever was. Go with a group and share the expenses, for a Houseboat rental in America's favorite house boat vacation destination. Hundreds of islands to claim for your own. Sandy beaches, clear water. Laws that allow divers to spearfish for your supper.

Welcome to the board, as you look around you'll find topics of discussions, to excite every diver.
