I have scubapro reg and the mouthpiece came with the 2nd stage (the original one).

I don't think I bite in too hard but my gum suffers quite a bit after a few day on a LOB, any suggestion please?

Also, is moldable mouthpiece worth a try?

Thanks a lot :)

Moldable mouthpiecec are great, but you should not place them on a longhose or octopus, as your buddy/teammate needs to breath from that

I use a mouthpiece that's called something like a "Comfort Bite" or what-not. I think it's well worth the $8 or $9.

But much, much better than that, I use three black cable ties to put a very slight bend in my second stage hose which eliminates the pulling of the regulator to one side. Basically I put on my tank, put the regulator in my mouth, attach two cable ties (about 3" apart) to tightly around a third cable tie to the hose with a dab of wet suit cement or rubber cement (to prevent it from slipping along the hose), and gradually tighten the third cable tie until the second stage is properly aligned in my mouth with no pulling from the hose. It now requires almost no effort to keep the thing in my mouth. The cable tie closest to the second stage is about 3-4".

I hope that the other photos that I uploaded in the past don't end up on the reply :|

Unless someone has a VERY unusual mouth, its generally ok to breathe off a moldable thats not your own in an emergency. Ive done a lot of OOG drills with peeps with moldable and never had a hassle.

OEM mouthpieces are often quite a hard compound for longevity and if you're unlucky not to fit them then you are going to have jaw fatigue and sore gums etc

JAX mouthpieces are comfortable and have quite good longevity. Make sure you get black and not clear!

I've used a Sea Cure for many years, extremely comfortable and secure, they don't wear out

I had what might be a similar problem where my mouthpiece made contact with my gum above my teeth and rubbed it raw. I solved that by slicing a little bit of the rubber off the mouthpiece where it was hitting my gum. That part of the mouthpiece isn't doing anything valuable, so if it hurts you, just remove it.

Thank you thank you thank you everyone for sharing the tips :heart::heart::heart::heart:

I probably will keep the octopus as it is...hopefully it doesn't get used often!

I'll get a comfort bite first. What you did in the photo is rather nifty :thumb:...probably a bit more complicated for a rookie like me.

I'm also getting moldable ones, just to try out which fits me better.

What's with the clear one? Thought it would be easier to tell whether a thorough clean is needed...?
