P.S. We lost a weight belt. Well a kid with us lost a weight belt. He earned the nick name "buoyant" for the weekend. I know chances of a SBer finding it are rare but if anyone does I would be tickled to hear about it.

aquaman_06:I enjoyed my dive up there this weekend as well Brutus, it is too bad we didnt get to meet up. Next time your coming out let me know and we will exchange numbers. What did you hear about the plant shutting down? Is it for good or just temporary? I will have to contact my Dad's friend and try to get some details. If the power plant stops cycling the water chances are, with current air temps at 22 today the lake will be too cold for divers in no time.
Glad to hear you guys enjoyed your dive. Where did buoyant lost his weight belt. Chances are if it's in water that isnt so deep you cant see it'll turn up.
As for getting in the lake it has always been a major pain. I have been told by more seasoned divers who have been diving Mt. Storm for years that the walk into the lake used to be nice. I have contacted the Power Plant about letting us build a nice walkway in and they dont seem interested in allowing it. I figured that if overall the local diving community pitched in some time and money we could make something fairly nice, though if they wont allow it there isnt too much that can be done.
Strange how the Boat ramp area is so nice and the scuba access is horrible! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
JimLap:If he lost it after going straight out and said it was at 50 ft there should have been a platform at 50 or the top of the wall. If he lost it in 60 ft of water then he was over the top of the wall and unless it hung up on a ledeg which is possible it's now in 90 plus feet of water. I had to map the scuba area for my DM class. I know what's out there. And if it did go over the wall 20 inches of silt sounds about right. PM me a compass heading and when I go down hopefully later this month or on Good Friday for sure I'll give a looksee. What kind of belt was it and what color. If anybody wants to join me on good friday April 6th give a shout. Also I've decided that from now on until the entry gets fixed I'm going in at the ramp and swimming over. Gonna start diving doubles shortly and I'm not gonna try going in with that much on my back down that path. We have also talked about building steps or ramps in cooperation with other shops or even indivduals but can't seem to get everyone together to talk about it at one time. I think some are worried about the liability issues if we do it ourselves. I don't think the plant would care one way or the other but WVDNR who manages the area may have some issues to deal with. And maybe I missed it but what was the water temp? Jim
