not too bad however is nowhere close to the coast so we dive mostly quarry and lakes

I'm not sure . .. have you checked out Africa and the Middle East - ScubaBoard ?
There is an Africa sub-forum. You might 'meet' others there.
It gets warm but we are in the foothills of a mountain range. It occasionaly bumps 100F, 38C, but not very often.
We usually drive about five hours to Mexico, and stay for the weekend.
